Ein zweiteiliger Bowspring Workshop mit Liz Coffman

"Learning the Bowspring is like learning a new language, starting with alphabet. First we learn the Elemental forms, then we connect them together to make poses. All Bowspring poses have clearly defined alignment for the hands and arms, feet and legs. Sequencing the poses together in prescribed flowing movements are called katas. Kata is a Japanese word, which means “way of doing,” practicing a regular act mindfully." John Friend

Teil 1: Broad

Samstag, 17. Februar 2018
11:00-13:30 Uhr

Learn the alphabet of the bowspring
alignment basics + elemental forms

//a good foundation makes a strong building//

"Broad" takes a zoomed-out, broad view of the Bowspring. What makes it different from other movement disciplines? How is it like other movement disciplines? What is tensegrity? Why does it matter?
This workshop will begin with discussion, and will follow with a lesson of the foundational Bowspring actions and alignments that give the practitioner greater awareness, openness, and power to move with freedom and grace, including Elementals katas straight from a recent Denver training.
*Suitable for all levels*

Teil 2: Narrow

Sonntag, 18. Februar 2018

11:00 - 13:30 Uhr

create movement poetry and prose
advanced sequences + transitions

//ritual does for behavior what poetry does for words//

"Narrow" offers a more detailed approach to Bowspring movement. Once you know the Elemental forms and actions, you can play with variations and transitions while asking the burning, whispered question, "Am I maintaining tensegrity?" :)
This class will have a Question/Answer session and will offer several katas of varying difficulties, including hand balances, inversions, and backbends. Through these katas the more detailed refinements of the Bowspring will be taught.
*Suitable for practitioners with Bowspring experience*

Die zwei Teile sind einzeln buchbar. Alle Levels sind willkommen, Liz unterrichtet auf Englisch.
